Did You Know? The Sabbath Was Established Before the Law Was Given
Many people believe the Sabbath was first introduced in the Ten Commandments, but the truth is -- YHWH established the Sabbath at the beginning of creation.
📖 Genesis 2:2-3 (KJV): "And on the seventh day YHWH ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And YHWH blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which YHWH created and made."
Long before there was a written law, before Moses, before Israel became a nation, the Sabbath existed and was already Holy. The Sabbath and its holiness is a part of creation itself, set apart by YHWH for all time.
The Hidden Truth: The Sabbath Follows the Sun, Not Man’s Calendar
Did you know that the original Sabbath was determined by the sun? Unlike today’s fixed weekly cycles, the ancient Israelites used a solar-based system to track time.
The Gregorian calendar, which most of the world follows today, was created by man. It was named after Pope Gregory in 1582 and changed the original reckoning of time.
But YHWH’s time is determined by the lights He placed in the heavens.
📖 Genesis 1:14 (KJV): "And YHWH said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years."
*Seasons, days, and years all represent time.
Time was originally kept by light and the movement of the sun, moon, and stars. The Sabbath was never meant to follow a man-made calendar because it was set by the sun’s cycle. This is solar time. The Hebrews kept solar time based on a solar calendar. The solar calendar is created by the sun’s time. The sun tells us the days. It lets us know the first day of the year, and from there, we count seven days to learn which day the Sabbath falls on. The Sabbath Day is every seven days and begins at sundown on the 6th day and ends at sundown on the 7th day.
A Secret That Has Been Hidden in Plain Sight
Have you ever wondered why the world pushes Sunday as the “day of worship”? Historically, the Sabbath was changed by men, not by YHWH.
Fact: History shows that the Roman Emperor Constantine officially changed the Sabbath to Sunday in 321 AD, merging biblical practices with sun worship to unite his empire. Later, the Council of Laodicea (364 AD) enforced Sunday as the official day of rest, and over time, many followed without question.
📖 Daniel 7:25 (KJV): "And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws..."
These are facts that you must also look up and study for yourself. Then you can prove it as Truth to yourself, and not be ashamed (saying you did not know).
This type of study is a must according to II Timothy 2:15 KJV:
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
This was a deliberate attempt to alter YHWH’s appointed times, and to this day, many have unknowingly followed a system designed to hide the true Sabbath.
The Sabbath is currently on Friday (it begins at sundown Thursday and ends on sundown Friday). This is based on the Hebrew Israelite Solar Calendar for the 2024-2025 years, which ends with the approaching real New Year arriving in a few days.
Why the Sabbath Still Matters Today
Some argue that the Sabbath is no longer necessary, or it doesn't matter what day you do it on, but YHWH’s Word says otherwise:
📖 Exodus 31:16 (KJV): "Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant."
The Sabbath is a sign between YHWH and His people (Exodus 31:13).
Keeping the Sabbath brings blessings and spiritual renewal (Isaiah 58:13-14).
Even in the Kingdom, the Sabbath will still be observed (Isaiah 66:23).
The Sabbath is special. It is a gift! A time of restoration, peace, and connection with the Most High.
